5 Date Night-In Ideas for You and Your Significant Other
Date night has a different meaning nowadays. With this quarantine in place, it’s easy to get comfortable in your relationship and slip into the routine of doing nothing. From binging Netflix to playing the same board games, there’s only so much you and your significant other can do to entertain each other. These five date night in ideas are perfect to surprise you and your significant other. From romantic intimate dates to more relaxed and creative date ideas, there’s a little something for everyone.
{THE AND} Couples Edition
I’m a big fan of open conversation and constant communication. Some of the best conversations I’ve had with my boyfriend Lu have stemmed from asking each other thought-provoking questions and uncomfortable questions.
This card game is designed to do that, and more. It helps you explore your connection and deepen your relationship. This isn’t your typical couples’ card game. All you really need is a bottle of wine and some music playing in the background. Whether you’ve been together for 3 years or 10, this card game is sure to bring up questions you’ve been dying to ask each other!
Paint Night
If your girlfriend or boyfriend loves to get crafty and creative, this is a surprise they’ll really appreciate. The best thing about painting is that you don’t need to be a professional, anyone can do it!
You don’t need much honestly for this paint date night. All that’s required is a canvas, some paint, brushes and paper plates and cups for your tools. You can order supplies online or go to your local Target or arts and crafts store. Now you either have the option of being spontaneous and painting whatever, or pulling up a Bob Ross video for inspiration. Lu and I have done a few paint nights in the past and have always had a blast! It’s always fun to let your creative side let loose.
Drive-In Movie Night
Who has actually been to a drive-in move theatre? I’ve only been once, and genuinely enjoyed the experience.
I suggest setting up in your living room, or any room with ample wall space. On an empty, large wall, you can set up a projector just like they do at the drive-in theatres. You’ll need a mini projector, blankets and pillows, and your favorite movie snacks. Grab a few movies you’ve been dying to see or your favorite old-school classics. This date night idea is perfect because there’s minimal effort involved. Put on your favorite pair of sweats, grab a glass of wine, and you’re good to go!
Take a Mixology Class
One of my favorite parts about traveling abroad is getting to visit distilleries or breweries because you get to taste that country’s native spirit. I’ve been to a few distilleries where after the tour is over, they give you a mixology class that features various types of cocktails. What better way to try new liquors and drinks that in the comfort of your own home?
MasterClass offers a variety of classes, this mixology class features dozens of cocktails from award-winning bartenders. Make a quick stop to your local package store, stock up on all the fruits and mixers you need, and you’re all set! This is the perfect opportunity to brush up on your bartending skills and learn something new.

This Too Shall Pass
If you’re quarantines with your significant other, I hope you make the effort and take the time to surprise your loved one with a date night. This is the perfect time to really slow down and connect with the people you truly love. It’s the effort that counts, and when you look back five to ten years from now, you’ll be thankful for all this extra time with your significant other.
If you’re not quarantined with your significant other, I feel you. The struggle is real—but, we need to continue to practice social distancing and do our part until this is over. If you cannot be with your loved ones physically, you still have options. You can always have a date over FaceTime or Zoom.
Let me know in the comments below which one of the five date night in ideas you’re looking forward to.
I know times are tough right now, but I promise we will get through this, together. If y’all ever want someone to talk to, I’m all ears! Stay safe friends. Xo
