The Importance of a Girls Trip

Every summer my best friends and I have made it a tradition to go on a girls trip together. Whether it be within the states or halfway across the world, we’ve started a tradition that I hope carries on for the rest of our lives. We’ve been going on girls trips since 2016. From Puerto Rico to Curacao and Dominican Republic, we’ve got a thing for traveling (especially when it comes to tropical destinations).

I’m very fortunate to have the best friends that I have (shout out to Daniela and Camila) who I’ve been literally friends with for over a decade now. We all share a pretty interesting relationship together. It’s almost like the dynamic between Monica, Rachel, and Phoebe from Friends (guess who’s who). We’ve adopted another bestie into the group, Akemi, and I’m so fortunate to have met her and gotten to know her better over the last few years. Like many millennials, we all live busy lives. We've made it a pact to set aside time every year for a girl’s trip and it’s been one of my favorite aspects of our friendship.

The Importance of a Girls Trip

Girls trips are so important because we you’re able to really reconnect, reminisce and create new memories together. It’s therapeutic in a sense to be surrounded by the girls you love and trust. Girls trips always turn into therapy sessions/support groups/that one scene from the movie The Hangover. Whether it be for a few days or a week with your friends, girl time is vital and good for the soul. On our most recent trip to Dominican Republic, I’ve never laughed or cried more with my girls.

Girls trips allow you to explore and do things you’ve never done before. Every year, we try to switch things up when it comes to adventures and excursions. The experiences and memories you create with these girls will stay with you forever, making it that much better.

I encourage each and everyone of my female readers to plan a girls trip. Whether it be with your sisters, cousins, friends, or mom, it is so important to get some time away with the ladies you love.

If you’re considering traveling somewhere warm and tropical, check out my Curacao Travel Guide. The girls and I went for about a week and absolutely loved it!
